PRETORIA – Goods rate round R500,000 were confiscated by the police after an alleged online scammer used to be arrested in Florida, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) acknowledged on Friday.

“On Thursday afternoon, JMPD officers spotted a male carrying an unknown item below his arm drawing shut members of the general public. Officers grew to change into suspicious and approached the man, identifying themselves,” acknowledged JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

Fihla acknowledged the suspect used to be detained for possession of suspected stolen property, contravening the Digital Communications and Transactions Act and possession of a copy firearm.

“The case used to be transferred to the Johannesburg commercial crimes investigation unit for extra investigation,” he acknowledged.
